Super Bowl LIV

Tweets On Confetti I

The 2020 Super Bowl was the first time we put Tweets on confetti for the winning team. It involved sourcing and vetting hundreds of fan Tweets for both teams, getting those approved within Twitter and with the NFL, replying to 50+ fans once the game was over with a picture of their Tweet on the field, and then mailing each fan a framed piece of confetti with their Tweet on it.

Tweets On Confetti II

In 2021, we put Tweets on Super Bowl confetti again, but our strategy was different. We highlighted best in class Tweets from players, fans, and voices from the NFL Twitter community. We also leaned into the idea of Tweeting things into existence, and showed off the @TwitterSports voice more editorially.

When the matchup between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady was confirmed, we also emphasized the GOAT vs baby GOAT narrative around the two quarterbacks.

Tweets On SoFi Stadium

After two successful confetti Super Bowls, our group was focused on how we could innovate around the game in 2022. SoFi Stadium was brand new and the NFL brought us the opportunity to put Tweets on the roof. We honed in on Super Bowl predictions from fans, creators and players that would go on the roof. Still, it required sourcing and vetting hundreds of Tweets, getting approval internally and from the NFL, collaborating with our Studio team to shoot all the video, and publishing dozens of video replies and Quote Tweets postgame.

We also had the opportunity to send a fan from Twitter to the game. A teacher named Tayler and her dad, both Rams fans, had an unforgettable experience all thanks to Tayler’s Tweets.
